Episode One

The crew arrives on the Island of Utila in the Bay Islands of Honduras to tape the pilot episode. We explore the cultural, functional and party aspects of Utila by dropping into the Bar in the Bush and the Treetanic Bar. We introduce Hans, Omri, Rob, Danny and Dwayne as the main characters and we dive Labyrinth, Black Hills, Moon Hole and Spotted Bay. A sunset hog fry in a beachfront Palapa ends our day.

Episode Two

Doug, Janice, and Barb return to Canada and the new crew takes over. Rob heads out to Roatan to do some pre-production work. Friend Barry Rakewich arrives from Canada to join up with the crew and get certified. We check out Tranquila and Coco Loco's, two more rocking bars on the Island. Dwayne is sidelined by a foot injury while the rest of the crew gets ready to head out to Roatan. We do a beautiful shore dive at Slumberland, and a night dive that reveals an incredible octopus ballet. We talk to Mr. Johnny about the ecology of the reef. Rob, Danny, Omri, Hans and Barry end up at the Utila airstrip waiting for the chartered plane to Roatan that doesn’t seem to be coming.

Episode Three

Plane arrives and we fly to Roatan. On arrival the crew is shuttled off to a 70-foot Catamaran tucked away in a remote bay. Rob ventures off while the crew undertakes a cruise on the boat. We settle in at Casa Grande “our own private swamp” as Hans put it, in the West Bay and hook up with Nuria, Dani, and Yvette at Octopus dive school, the only all female shop on Roatan. We profile three incredible dives along deep walls and over some absolutely pristine coral beds. We also dive the canopy zip line at Gumbalimba Park and go for an extensive Island tour on the 70-foot Catamaran. We meet Tommy, Jimmy, Delaine, Orville, and many more. The episode ends with sunset at the Palapa bar and the decision to move to another part of the Island.

Episode Four

We arrive in Roatan's West End and check into the Lost Paradise hotel, then proceed to catch a gorgeous sunset at Sundowners beach bar. Here we learn how to make and drink a Monkey La La, a creamy smooth concoction named after a local lizard. That night we go out to shoot the West End nightlife. Rob doesn’t go along because he has been brought down hard with heat stroke. The rest of the crew catch some wild night life that includes some great bar dancing…and bar falling off. The episode includes an interview with a local musician, and a flashback to the operation by Dr. John on Dwayne’s foot. We dive Mary’s Place and two other primo sites. The episode ends with the crew sitting at the Roatan airport waiting for the charter plane to Utila that doesn’t seem to be coming.

Episode Five

The plane arrives and carries the crew back to Utila in time for a night dive. We make preparations and embark on a journey to Cayos Cochinos aboard a 55-foot sailboat skippered by Captain Hank, who professes to be an alien. Dwayne, all healed up, joins us on the journey but is overtaken by the dreaded heaves. Also joining us and heaving much less is Ted, a fellow Canadian we met in Utila. He is a cameraman with some nice spiffy equipment who is also a dive master and a very cool fellow. Ted shoots some fantastic images. Also along sharing our house and boat are Andy, Kurt and Stefan. We dive in a pristine marine preserve including Jenna’s Cove and Pelican Wall. The dive scenes are mind-boggling. The episode ends with Dwayne having to stop diving because of some tarantula hairs that are shot into his eyes by a spider he was trying to corral.

Episode Six

We feature two more great dives including a six-kilometer wild ride with only a GPS bearing to dive on the Roatan banks with Keper, a dive cowboy from New Hampshire, USA. It is an exhilarating dive with some big wildlife and some hairy diving. The episode includes a trip into East Village, the only settlement on the Island. It is made up of a collection of stone, bamboo, or palm houses and contains some wonderful people. Here we see Lionel, one of the local elders treat Dwayne’s eye with a camphor and lime remedy. We visit the local school and speak at length with Dr. Seba whose intercellular healing clinic on the mainland draws high profile patients from around the world. The episode ends with the return to Utila to wind down the shoot and return home.

Episode Seven

Rob boards a plane back to Utila to start taping the next episodes. He meets his friend Ross Fraser in Miami, and the seventh episode of GreatDives.TV gets going. Check back to see how it turns into an adventure of people, places, food, drink, and GREAT DIVES...
